Camp riders at Mt. Hood

The evening session · the part nobody photographs

Every night, we put your riding on a screen and slow it to a crawl.

Everybody films at camp. Almost nobody tells you what they do with the footage. Here is exactly what happens between dinner and bed, and why it is the reason riders leave here different rather than just tired.

The five passes

What we look for, in order

Your coach filmed you all morning. After dinner we sit down and go through your clips in a fixed order, because looking at everything at once is how riders end up overwhelmed and change nothing.

PASS 01

Full speed, no commentary

You watch yourself ride once at normal speed and say nothing. Most riders have literally never seen themselves snowboard. This alone changes what they believe about their own riding.

PASS 02

The approach

We rewind to before anything happened. Stance, speed, edge, eyes. Nine times out of ten the mistake was already made three seconds before the part you thought was the mistake.

PASS 03

Frame by frame at the critical moment

Takeoff, or the initiation of the turn, stepped one frame at a time. This is where you see the thing your coach has been telling you all morning, and it finally means something.

PASS 04

Side by side

Your clip next to a clip of the movement done correctly, playing together. Not to make you feel bad, to give your brain a target image to copy tomorrow.

PASS 05

One thing

We agree on a single change for tomorrow morning. One. Written down. That is the whole output of the session, and it is why it works.

This is the room the week actually happens in

Nobody photographs it, because it looks like five adults on a sofa staring at a television. It is still the reason riders leave here different rather than just tired.

Why one thing

Because two things is zero things.

The failure mode of coaching is a rider who leaves with eleven corrections and applies none of them. Five nights, five single changes, each one built on the last. That is a stack you can actually climb. It is also why five straight days beat five scattered lessons over three winters.

STAGE 01

Soft snow

Summer glacier corn is the most forgiving surface in snowboarding. Falling stops hurting, so your body stops bracing.

STAGE 02

Small group

Four campers per coach. Your coach knows your name, your leak and your goal by the first lunch.

STAGE 03

Airbag reps

Timberline's airbag lets you try the scary version twenty times with no landing consequence.

STAGE 04

Night video

Every evening we put your footage on the screen and find the one thing to change tomorrow.

STAGE 05

Next morning

You wake up and do it again, five mornings back to back. That repetition is the part winter can never give you.

What a camper said about exactly this

Unprompted

“I was able to progress my riding, and at the same time, I felt safe because I knew I had great coaches I could trust. Morning exercises on the mountain and video feedback were super valuable… Riding Mount Hood in the summer, meeting new friends, seeing old friends, watching pros ride, and getting coached by the best is super special.”
Jimmy Rivas · RN, 37, Chicago
Returning camper

Jimmy named the video feedback and the morning exercises specifically, and he has been twice.

The rest of the week

Around that nightly loop

  • Ride mornings on the Palmer Glacier when the snow is at its best.
  • Four campers per coach, grouped by level and by what you said you want.
  • Airbag sessions so you can rehearse the frightening version with no landing.
  • Off the hill by early afternoon, recovered, so tomorrow is not a write off.
  • Dinner, then the video session. Then sleep, because tomorrow matters.

Sessions

Two weeks, summer 2027

Each session runs Monday to Sunday: you travel in and settle on Monday, ride Tuesday through Saturday, and fly home Sunday. That is five full days on snow with no travel day eating into them. Exact calendar dates are confirmed with Timberline each spring and announced to deposit holders first. Both sessions fall between June 20 and July 30, 2027.

LAST RUN

The Last Run Guarantee

Ride all five days. If on your last run you cannot do something on a snowboard that you could not do on your first morning, we refund your coaching in full. You name that something yourself, in writing, on day one. You keep the video, the drills and the week. We have never had to write that cheque, and we are not nervous about it.

Five nights. Five changes. One rider who leaves different.
