For riders who ride alone now

Everyone you used to ride with has kids now.

Nobody announced it. The group chat just went quiet, the annual trip stopped getting booked, and now you drive up on your own, ride your own laps and eat lunch in the car. It is fine. It is also, quietly, why you stopped improving.

Most campers arrive alone. Nobody leaves that way.

Campers together at Mt. Hood

Riding alone does something specific to your snowboarding: you stop trying things. There is nobody to push you, nobody to film you, nobody to say “go again, you nearly had it”. So you ride the runs you know, well, forever.

And booking a week somewhere as the person who has come on their own feels, on paper, faintly bleak. We know. It is the single most common hesitation people tell us about on the phone.

Here is what actually happens. The overwhelming majority of adult campers arrive alone. Everyone is in the same position, everyone is slightly nervous on Monday morning, and by Tuesday nobody can remember who came with whom.

Why it works

The structure does the socialising for you.

You do not have to be good at meeting people. You are put in a group of four at your level on Monday morning, you spend seven days failing at things together, and you eat dinner with the same faces every night. That is how adult friendships actually form — shared difficulty, repeated.

MONDAY 9AM

Four strangers, same level

Grouped by ability and by what each of you said you wanted. Nobody is stuck with someone twice their speed.

BY WEDNESDAY

They’re filming you

Somebody in your group has your phone at the bottom of the jump line. This is the thing riding alone can never give you.

BY SUNDAY

A group chat

Jimmy’s words, not ours: “meeting new friends, seeing old friends”. He has come back twice.

And the awkward practicalities

Asked and answered

Will I have to share a room?
The All-Inclusive package houses campers in the lodging in Government Camp; room configurations are confirmed before you pay, and we will tell you exactly what your arrangement is when you book. If you want a room to yourself, ask — it is a normal request and we will price it for you rather than pretending it is not an option.
What if my group is way better than me?
Then we have grouped you wrong and we will move you. Groups are set on Monday morning after we have watched everybody ride, not from a form you filled in months earlier, and they are adjusted through the week. Being the weakest in a group by accident is a coaching failure, not something you should have to live with.
Do I have to do the social stuff?
No. Dinner and the video session are where the week actually happens, and we would encourage you to be at both. Everything else is optional, and going to bed early is an entirely respectable choice — a good number of campers make it.
I'm the only one my age, surely?
Unlikely. The camp is 21 and over and adult sessions on this mountain routinely run from mid-twenties to the sixties. Whatever age you are picturing as ‘too old to be there’, somebody older than that had a great week last summer.

Two people who came alone

And came back

“I was able to progress my riding, and at the same time, I felt safe because I knew I had great coaches I could trust. Morning exercises on the mountain and video feedback were super valuable… Riding Mount Hood in the summer, meeting new friends, seeing old friends, watching pros ride, and getting coached by the best is super special.”

Two-time camper
“I was nervous about it being my first year snowboarding and possibly holding people back since I didn’t have a lot of park experience, but the coaches were great at breaking things down into stages for me to try and build my confidence and progress at a pace I was comfortable with. My riding improved so much.”

The week

How seven days run

STAGE 01

Soft snow

Summer glacier corn is the most forgiving surface in snowboarding. Falling stops hurting, so your body stops bracing.

STAGE 02

Small group

Four campers per coach. Your coach knows your name, your leak and your goal by Monday lunch.

STAGE 03

Airbag reps

Timberline's airbag lets you try the scary version twenty times with no landing consequence.

STAGE 04

Night video

Every evening we put your footage on the screen and find the one thing to change tomorrow.

STAGE 05

Next morning

You wake up and do it again — 7 days back to back. That repetition is the part winter can never give you.

Exact calendar dates are confirmed with Timberline each spring and announced to deposit holders first. Both sessions run Monday through Sunday between June 20 and July 30, 2027.

SUN DAY

The Sunday Guarantee

Ride all seven days. If by Sunday afternoon you cannot do something on a snowboard that you could not do on Monday morning — something you name yourself on day one, in writing — we refund your coaching in full. You keep the video, the drills and the week. We have never had to write that cheque, and we are not nervous about it.

Book it on your own. That’s how most people get here.
